The sun wasn’t in the ideal place for me to be taking the best quality photo but I am posting them anyway. The view from the top of Mt. Battie is really spectacular. I need to go back and hike some of the trails with my dog (whenever we get one) and get pictures when the sun is behind me…

for those of you who don’t know about a “cairn”, it’s a directional marker on a hiking trail, often created because there are no trees around to mark to lead the hiker in the right direction. Often on bald or rocky sections, “cairns” are created to allow the hiker to follow. Sometimes rocks are painted, or have a blue “blaze” paint mark on them, but “cairns” are much more fun and have personality. Sometimes people add to them. They’re sculptural.
