A lot of my friends use Photomatix for HDR. I think it’s still in a Beta for 4.0. Don’t be afraid to adjust your images to what you originally saw. Cropping is ok too. Until you wind up on Photoshop Disasters .com I think you’re ok.

Thanks, Mike! I must admit I haven’t used HDR yet! Need to upgrade my Photoshop, then I’ll play with it. Never believed in edited shots, I am a photo purist. HOWEVER, I’d like to play with it!
This shot is the lowest I’ve captured the moon!

That’s a really nice balance of the luminance from the moon and the boats in the water. I wonder if you could HDR the moon? I don’t see why not. Have you ever gotten the moon as it’s rising on the horizon? I have been working on that shot for years. Great job.
