This is the Rosa Rugosa bush (flowers not present in this photo) and the red bud you see are rose hips. Bokeh is a photographic term for the desired quality of the blurred section of a photograph (the highlighted out of focus circles)

I posted this on my Posterous blog a few days ago but try not to duplicate photo posts but I’ll make an exception on occasion. I like this shot because the water was so still and the sky so clear with just a few wispy clouds against the vivid orange. This was not color altered at all!

I’m glad I headed up Cadillac Mountain yesterday on my way home from the annual Maine Association of Realtors Convention to capture the foliage this year; today’s wind and rain may just cause many of the peak-colored leaves to fall.

My friend Kate gave me a cutting of this plant from hers which was hitting the ceiling in her dining room. This is the first bloom – it’s about 7 inches in diameter and smells incredible!
